1. What ReadWhen Is

ReadWhen is a digital vault for letters, messages, and media that you create for people who matter to you. The service helps you store messages, organize recipients, create delivery links, run check-ins, export your vault, and support reply or recipient flows.

We provide the vault and delivery tools. You provide the words, recipient details, timing choices, and judgment.

2. What ReadWhen Is Not

Important

ReadWhen is not a legal will, trust, estate planning service, legal advice, therapy, emergency service, financial service, or medical service. Messages stored in ReadWhen are personal messages and do not replace legally binding documents.

For estate planning, healthcare directives, guardianship, financial instructions, or legally binding transfers, consult a qualified professional.

3. Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for your login credentials and for activity under your account. Keep your email address current because account, delivery, and recovery communications may depend on it.

We may suspend or restrict accounts that create security risk, violate these terms, abuse referrals, attempt unauthorized access, or use ReadWhen in a harmful or unlawful way.

4. Your Content

Your letters, entries, uploaded media, recipient lists, and related vault material remain yours. You grant ReadWhen a limited license to host, store, back up, display, process, transmit, and deliver that content only as needed to operate and improve the service, comply with law, protect users, and troubleshoot reliability or abuse issues.

We do not sell your vault content or use it for advertising. We do not use your vault content to train AI models.

Current security reality: ReadWhen protects production data with access controls, HTTPS, operational safeguards, backups, and field-level encryption for core entry text fields. Entry titles, bodies, prediction text, and sender notes are encrypted before storage when the production encryption key is configured. Recipient data, account metadata, delivery records, operational logs, and uploaded media are not currently end-to-end encrypted. Do not store passwords, private keys, or legally controlling estate instructions in ReadWhen.

5. Delivery, Recipients, and Check-Ins

ReadWhen can create recipient portals, ceremony links, ripple reply links, scheduled or manual delivery records, and check-in based delivery workflows. Delivery may depend on email addresses, recipient access, service availability, spam filters, third-party providers, and the accuracy of information you provide.

You are responsible for keeping recipient information current, choosing appropriate content, and informing recipients when appropriate that they may receive communications from ReadWhen.

We make reasonable efforts to deliver configured messages, but we cannot guarantee every delivery, every notification, or every recipient action. Once a recipient accesses delivered content, it may not be possible to undo that access.

6. AI-Assisted Drafting

ReadWhen may offer AI-assisted drafting. AI output is a draft, not a final message. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, approving, saving, and sending any AI-assisted text.

If an external AI provider is configured, the prompt and draft context you submit to an AI feature may be sent to that provider to generate a response. If no external provider is configured, ReadWhen may use a local template-based drafting fallback.

Do not submit sensitive information to AI features unless you are comfortable with that processing.

7. Referrals

ReadWhen may provide referral links, referral tracking, credits, rewards, or promotional campaigns. Referral rewards are not guaranteed, may change, and may be withheld or revoked for fraud, abuse, fake accounts, self-referrals, or violations of these terms.

8. Payments, Gifts, and Plans

ReadWhen may offer free and paid plans. Payments, when enabled, are processed by Stripe or another payment provider. We do not store full card numbers. Pricing and included features are shown in the checkout or upgrade flow.

If a paid plan ends, your account may move to a free or limited plan. We do not intend to delete existing letters solely because a subscription ends, but premium features may stop being available.

Gift codes, if offered, are single-use unless stated otherwise. Refund eligibility depends on purchase type, usage, payment provider rules, and applicable law.

9. Acceptable Use

Do not use ReadWhen to harass, threaten, exploit, impersonate, distribute malware, phish, store unlawful content, violate privacy rights, or attempt to access someone else's vault. Do not use posthumous or delayed messages as a vehicle for abuse.

10. Disclaimers and Liability

ReadWhen is provided "as is" and "as available." We work to keep the service reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, successful delivery, permanent preservation, legal effectiveness, emotional outcome, or error-free AI output.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid ReadWhen in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, emotional, reputational, or relationship-related damages arising from messages created, delivered, received, or not delivered through ReadWhen.

11. Deletion

You may request deletion of your account. Deletion is intended to remove vault content, recipient data, delivery configuration, and account data from active systems. Backups and logs may persist for a limited period for security, legal, anti-fraud, and operational reasons before aging out.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted in the service or communicated by email when practical. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
